Technical Textile Coatings - working in partnership with our customers

Coatings & Main Properties

Direct coating

This process involves the application of liquid coatings to the surface of woven fabrics, followed by hot air drying and curing processes. The required coating weight and polymer composition for any particular fabric specification is determined by the technical performance requirement and is achieved by applying a number of separate coats

We utilise a wide range of polymeric coating systems and the coatings we formulate possess a range of important properties.

  • Polyurethanes
  • Polyacrylates
  • Silicone elastomers
  • Liquid silicone rubbers
  • Custom designed co-polymer blends

  • Waterproofness
  • Breathability
  • Weldability HF & RF
  • Gas Holding (Helium & Hydrogen)
  • Flame retardance, Fire resistance
  • Anti-fray, Anti-static, Anti-microbial
  • UV resistance
  • High strength
  • Coating release

Extrusion coating

Stormproofings are able to offer hot melt extrusion coating involving the application of a molten polymeric coating direct on to stable substrates which are normally, but not exclusively, woven fabric constructions.

These tough monolithic coatings, which are both weather and abrasion resistant, normally constitute the technical face of the coated material.

  • Polyurethane (TPU)
  • Polyethylene (TPE)
  • Polypropylene (TPP)

  • High resistance to water penetration
  • High performance liquid barrier
  • Gas holding (usually helium or hydrogen)
  • Weldable HF & RF
  • Solvent resistance
  • Fuel resistance
  • Hydrolysis resistance
